Jayson Tatum’s tattoos – leg, back, and more

Does Jayson Tatum have tattoos?

Introduction

Celebrities, influencers, athletes, and other people who are always in the public eye are often role models for their fans.

Not only do people emulate their behavior, but they also often emulate their style and draw inspiration from how their heroes dress.

Athletes and sports stars seem to have a keen sense of fashion.

Famous soccer player David Beckham for example, is considered a fashion icon, as are countless other sports stars.

Basketball players, in particular, just seem to have a style that cannot be matched, especially Jayson Tatum.

When it comes to fashion, nowadays, people focus on tattoos as much as they do clothes, and for a good reason.

Tattoos are empowering, they’re personal, they’re meaningful, and they’re basically works of art.

Fans of Jayson Tatum will know that his tattoos are very highly sought-after in the US and beyond, but why is the man such a fashion icon for his fans, and what tattoos does he have?

Here is a detailed look at why Jayson Tatum’s tattoos are so popular.

Who is Jayson Tatum?

He is a professional basketball player for the NBA in America, who currently plays for the Boston Celtics.

Tatum is a former All-American and used to play college basketball for the Duke Blue Devils.

In 2017, he was selected as the third overall pick for the Celtics in the draft and quickly took to the court like a duck to water.

In 2022, his hard work paid off as he was voted the NBA Eastern Conference Finals MVP (Most Valuable Player).

He has even won Olympic gold, winning Gold for the U.S. Olympic Team at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.

Tatum is not only a fashion icon, he is also a record-breaker, with 55 points, but he also holds the record for most points scored in an NBA All-Star game, along with the most points scored in a Game 7, of any NBA Playoffs series, for which he scored 51.

With endorsement deals with the likes of Subway, and Jordan, Tatum is one of the hottest prospects in basketball today.

Jayson Tatum – Tattoos

As talented as Tatum is on the court, his fans are also interested in his body art and ink.

Jason Tatum tattoos are very popular in the US especially, but which designs are most sought after?

To help get to the bottom of this, we’ll now take a look at some of Tatum’s most popular tattoo designs and try to understand a little of the meaning behind them.

Father and Son tattoo

One of the best things about getting a tattoo is the fact that you can make it so personal.

When you get a tattoo, you can have something created that is deep and meaningful for you.

That is exactly what Jayson Tatum has done with this first tattoo.

Located on Tatum’s leg, specifically his left thigh, you will find a portrait of Tatum dressed in his basketball jersey, holding his young infant son, Christopher Tatum, Jr.

Directly underneath the portrait are the words ‘like father, like son.’

Tatum is, of course, very proud of his son, and he loves him deeply.

Judging from the text, you would assume that Jayson hopes that one day in the next couple of decades, his son can turn pro and follow in his footsteps.

On his leg, Jayson has another tattoo that says – “I just didn’t quit, hussle man.”

St. Louis Explosion tattoo

Jayson has a more unique and unusual tattoo located on his right thigh.

The tattoo features a mushroom cloud from an explosion, with the words St. Louis on top of the explosion and the words ‘till the world blows’ tattooed underneath it.

This tattoo is a tribute to Jayson’s hometown, which was St. Louis, Missouri.

The explosion simply fits in with the text, and shouldn’t be taken too literally. Jayson likely does not wish for an explosion to occur in his beloved hometown.

Mother tattoo

Another of the more popular Jayson Tatum tattoos that we’re about to look at right now is another family portrait.

This one is of his mother.

On Jayson’s lower left leg, you will see a portrait of Jayson as a very young child, being held by his beloved mother, whom he cares for very much.

His mother, Brandy Cole, was a huge influence on him growing up, and without her, he wouldn’t be where he’s at today.

Inspirational quotes

On Jayson’s lower left calf muscle, just behind the portrait of him and his son, you will find the quote ‘I just didn’t quit’ tattooed, accompanied by two chequered flags, and the text ‘hustle man’ tattooed underneath.

Jayson is a big fan of rap music, and the tattoo is a tribute to the late rapper Nipsey Hussle’s words.

These words really resonated with Jayson as he worked unbelievably hard to get to where he needed to get to to become an elite athlete.

98 and Jersey tattoo

On Tatum’s left knee is a tattoo of two basketball jerseys. One jersey has ‘0’ and ‘Duke’ written on it, while the other has ‘22’ and ‘Chaminade’ written on it.

The Duke jersey represents his college basketball days playing with the Duke Blue Devils and the number he wore.

The Chaminade jersey, however, represents his old ‘Chaminade College Prep School and the number jersey he wore.

The 98 is in reference to the year he was born, as he was born on March 3rd, 1998.

GODS WILL tattoo

Jayson is a religious man, and as a result of this, he has the words ‘GODS WILL’ tattooed across his upper back, just below his neck.

Jayson receives a lot of hate for this tattoo, largely due to the missing apostrophe.

He doesn’t seem to mind too much about it, however.

City tattoo

On Jayson’s back, there is also a tattoo with the text ‘U City.’

This is because Jayson is a St. Louis native, so naturally (University City) serves as the obvious choice to pay homage to such a distinguished and academic city.
